Report: Legislators Reject Virginia’s Democrat Governor Assault Weapon Ban In Bipartisan Unity!

Good news for freedom-loving Americans.

Virginia’s “blackface” Governor, Ralph Northam, lost a battle to ban the sale of assault weapons through a bipartisan legislature that included his party.

Yes, keeping firearms requires a considerable measure of responsibility, but it’s NOT the government’s place to mandate storage conditions at all. If a gun must be stored unloaded, or secured in such a fashion that it isn’t immediately available for self-defense, then the law-abiding gun owner is effectively disarmed.

Responsible gun owners support the idea of keeping guns, loaded or not, out of the reach of children. They do not support new laws. There are already laws on reckless endangerment. Ninety percent of existing laws involving guns do not work because the criminals don’t care, and the prosecutors ignore them. The Constitution shall NOT be infringed, and these government employees need to understand what that means.

Senators voted to shelve the bill for the year and ask the state crime commission to study the issue, an outcome that drew cheers from a committee room packed with gun advocates.

Four moderate Democrats joined Republicans in Monday’s committee vote, rejecting legislation that would have prohibited the sale of certain semiautomatic firearms, including popular AR-15 style rifles, and banned the possession of magazines that hold more than 12 rounds.

The bill was a top priority for Northam, a Democrat who has campaigned heavily for a broad package of gun-control measures.

The legislation also engendered the biggest pushback from gun owners and gun-right advocates, who accused the governor and others of wanting to confiscate commonly owned guns and accessories from law-abiding gun owners. Northam has said repeatedly he does not want to confiscate guns, but argued that banning new sales of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines would help prevent mass murders. [Fox 5]

By far, most of the gun kills today are committed in Democrat-controlled cities. What exactly is VA Democrats doing to combat this continued gun killing, other than trying to make legal, law-abiding gun owners in rural areas become felons? Democrats need to control their voting bloc and deal with the problems at hand. Making law-abiding gun owners comply with unrealistic laws will not curtail gun kills.

The good thing is most counties in Virginia have become Second Amendment Sanctuary counties, so any new gun law passed in Virginia will only be enforced in a small part of the state. This new bill about recklessly leaving a loaded firearm unsecured is a joke. Only someone that knows nothing about guns would even think this one up.

Democrats lie about guns. They claim they want “common-sense gun control” measures, but they’re never satisfied. No matter what laws they get, they always come back next year demanding more “common sense” measures.

All politicians swear an oath to honor and defend our Constitution. This oath doesn’t say to pick the parts of the Constitution you agree with and defend those, it means all of it.

The 2nd amendment is just as necessary as the 1st; without the 2nd, you have no chance of keeping any of the Constitution. Human nature has not changed at all in 300 years; there will always be people in our society that dream of having total control. Never give your right to defend and protect yourself; it’s much harder to take it back.
