Talk about being a total apologist for racism. Talk about being a total party man and selling out your race by opposing their newfound successes since Trump became President.
During an appearance on Neil Cavuto’s “Your World” on Fox News on Tuesday, Jim Clyburn, House Majority Whip and Representative of the 6th congressional district in South Carolina, made some incredible statements.
When Cavuto asked Clyburn if he would support Democrat Presidential Candidate Michael Bloomberg if he was the nominee, Clyburn said, “I’m going to back whoever the nominee is. Absolutely.”
Cavuto pressed him regarding the things that have come out in the media recently where Bloomberg said racist things about African Americans. Cavuto asked if that bothered him.
Clyburn said, “Well, not as much as what Trump has said about African Americans.”
That sounded a little far-fetched to me so I Googled “trump’s racist statements.” I even clicked on a Huffington Post [1] link.
Surely, there would be evidence there to back up Clyburn’s statement? Something on video out of Trump’s own mouth. Proof.
Nope.
Just supposition and editorial comments why Trump is racist. It was the usual. Muslim ban = racist. Wanting to see Obama’s birth certificate = racist. Wanting a border wall = racist.
But no actual racist statements by Trump.
Nothing that Trump has said is even close to the newly discovered Michael Bloomberg 2015 audio from an Aspen Institute speech where he says, “ninety-five percent of murders, murderers and murder victims fit one M.O. You can just take a description, Xerox it, and pass it out to all the cops. They are male, minorities, 16 to 25.”

THAT is a racist statement, not supposition. And it wasn’t the only racist thing that came out over the weekend that Bloomberg was caught saying (in addition to sexist comments and other things).
But Clyburn doesn’t mind defending Bloomberg. Racist comments appear to be acceptable to him because Bloomberg might be the Democrat candidate.
Clyburn continued his interview with Cavuto by saying, “Anytime that I go into the polls, I’m considering positives and negatives from all the candidates. And I try to go with the one whose positives outweigh the negatives.”
Cavuto continued their discussion by saying that Trump has “delivered the goods” for African Americans with record low unemployment levels for one group after another, mostly with African Americans.
But Clyburn was having none of that.
“Come on!” Clyburn said. “Come on, Neil!”
Cavuto asked, “you don’t think that’s something constructive?”
“No,” said Clyburn. “No, because it’s not true.”
“It’s not true?” asked Cavuto.
Clyburn continued, “I’m saying that African American unemployment is not the lowest its ever been unless you count slavery. We were fully employed during slavery. So it all depends on how you measure things up. So it’s not the lowest it’s ever been.”

Not exactly articulately. He probably should have used the word “if” instead of “unless.” But we get it. He wrapped it up with, “so it’s not the lowest it’s ever been” when comparing the black unemployment rate under Trump to the times of slavery.
We get it.
He actually talked about slaves being “employed” as a way to diminish Trump’s record-low unemployment numbers for African Americans.
Let that sink in.
I’ve never heard that comparison before. I’m pretty sure that Clyburn is the first one to come out with it. He’s a trailblazer of sorts.
Clyburn’s own constituents, which include a 57% black majority in his district, have done very well under Trump.
According to the Economic Policy Institute, black unemployment in South Carolina as of November 2019 was only 3.8%. In December of 2016, when Obama was on the way out, it was 7.1%.
Who exactly is Clyburn representing??
