Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa Tuesday night hosted the National Cliche Festival, better known as the last Dem debate before the Iowa caucuses.
The assembled socialists and apprentice socialists wasted no time in advocating historically-failed political doctrines. But there was the occasional interesting development, mostly highlighting the lack of serious educations rife amongst the not-ready-for-Prime Time participants.
It started off with Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) praising the troops. This is bizarre coming from a man who has sided with the enemy of those troops all his adult life. It continued as one and all told us of their opposition to the Iraq War. Strangely, this is just as Trump has said and does by lowering troop levels there to minimal numbers. No points for contrast kids.

That gave the weakest candidate there, the haltingly inarticulate Tom Steyer, the chance, along with Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass), to say they would cut defense spending. But they also say Trump is leading us into war with Iran. So, there is an impending war but they want to starve the military of funds? That makes sense.
The press gave Sanders a pass on the anti-female president kerfuffle and that was the cue for Warren to trash all the men on the stage as political losers, which isn’t sexist at all right?
Steyer went off script and supported term limits. Ouch, that’s gonna leave a bruise.
Sanders tried the forty-year-old scare tactic of putting a time limit on the survival of the Earth if we don’t adopt his watermelon (green on the outside classic deep red on the inside) environmental agenda. He also blamed the Aussie wildfires on climate change, obviously missing the widely disseminated news that nearly 200 people have been arrested for starting those very fires.
Joe Biden then tried to convince everyone that government creates jobs. After that, they all took a race question and answered it by not answering it and instead took swipes at Trump.

Then the only person on stage who sounded ideologically silly yet rhetorically coherent, Navy vet Mayor Pete Buttigieg, called out the president for his lack of military service. We will hear that talking point again, as it hits Trump from the right. Nice trick.
CNN then chimed in with a telling line on how President Trump “tells lies” and then gushingly stood idle while the Dems lied within an inch of their lives. Warren decried minority infant mortality, conveniently forgetting how many minority pregnancies are terminated by abortion. They closed by Warren and Sanders awkwardly using the same setup slogan.
Hot take? Biden held his own, as did Warren. Sanders faltered slightly. Buttigieg did well and that will help solidify his good numbers in Iowa.
Klobuchar and Steyer didn’t matter at all.
And waiting for the survivors of Iowa and New Hampshire on Super Tuesday?
