I’ve been watching the complicated history of The Windsors, and I feel for Queen Elizabeth because of what the family has had to endure over the past 100-plus years.

Her uncle, Edward VIII, the former King of England, abdicate (walked away) from his duties because he was in love and wanted to marry a divorced woman who was against the rules of the monarchy. According to the history books, he also tried to gain back the throne, working with Germany’s Adolf Hitler, as documented in now unclassified “Marburg Files.”

Edward, also known as David, passed away in France, banished from his country but close to Prince Charles, who is seemingly paying the price even after falling in love with Camilla Strand, another divorcee. It seems trouble has followed this family for a long time, and the rock has been Queen Elizabeth who has tried to keep things level.

Harry and Meghan leaked through the papers how they wanted to go their way, but I don’t think they were ready to be removed entirely, but I don’t blame the queen one least bit. Regardless of what they said, you can’t be a part-time royal. They’re plenty rich on what was left Harry by his mother, and they’re both young enough to get jobs. No SussexRoyal trademark, which was on their website for a while (that always seemed a bit tacky to me) and no public funds.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will no longer use “royal highness” titles and won’t receive public money for their public duties, Buckingham Palace said Saturday.

In addition, the couple will pay back money they spent renovating Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their home in the U.K.

The announcement comes after the couple shared their plans to “step back” from their roles as senior members of the British royal family and live a more independent life.

“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family,” Queen Elizabeth II said in a statement. “I recognize the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life.”

The Queen said she hopes that Harry and Meghan will be able “to start building a happy and peaceful new life.”

“I want to thank them for all their dedicated work across this country, the Commonwealth and beyond, and am particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family,” she said. [NBC News]

Marriages that start by abandoning one side of the family never work. He was close with his entire extended family before he met Meghan, even if he never liked being a royal. If they are going to do this right, then they should pay for their security, just like any celebrity would. There should be no public funds spent on them by either Great Britain or Canada.

It’s going to be traumatic for Harry. No matter how sweet the other side looks right now, the fact is that he has relinquished an enormous piece of his identity, the only life he knows. Moving to another continent away from his family and friends, anyone who’s done it knows it’s very hard for a woman, he’s known for less than five years.

For someone who lamented the loss of his mother, Harry is following in her fateful footsteps. Harry has lost the “his royal highness” designation just like his mother and may very well end up with private-paid security just like his mother. For someone trying to protect his wife from his mother’s fate, Harry just walked right into the same scenario. Hopefully, the result won’t be the same.

If anyone thinks Mr. and Ms. Markle are giving up, titles and taxpayers subsidized allowance out of the goodness of their hearts or being free and independent, stay tuned for the second act where failed actress and gold digger Markle separates from royal dummy, moves to California consults divorce attorneys, and lives happily ever after on alimony, child support and large divorce settlement for the rest of her miserable life after divorce.

The Queen proves once again that she is worth every penny the UK “pays” her. There are rules. These rules provide for the Authenticity that the liberals whine about but don’t have. God bless, The Queen.
