Report: Kobe Bryant and His Wife Made a Pact to Never Fly On A Helicopter Together

By Missy Crane | January 28, 2020

The country and the world is still reeling over the untimely death of NBA legend Kobe Bryant, his daughter and 7 other people who lost their lives in a tragic helicopter crash on Sunday in the hills of Calabasas, California.

Bryant was traveling with the group to his daughter’s basketball game in heavy fog conditions when his helicopter went down. The plane crashed into a hill and everyone on board was killed.

It wasn’t odd for Kobe to travel by helicopter; as a matter of fact, he preferred to travel that way.

Bryant said he started using a helicopter before he retired from the Lakers in 2016. With advent of the quick travel option, Bryant said he could get up in the morning to see his children off, train for games with weights during the day, handle media requests and still make it back to his daughters’ school.

Sadly, that decision to fly in helicopters ended his life at just 41-years-old. Makes you wish now that he took cars. So sad.

A new report out says that Bryant and his wife Venessa had made a pact.

The two vowed to never travel by helicopter together.

Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa Bryant made an agreement to never fly on a helicopter together.

As fans know, the Los Angeles Lakers legend tragically died at the age of 41 on Sunday morning (January 26) in a copter crash along with eight other passengers, including he and Vanessa’s 13-year-old daughter Gianna. Now, according to PEOPLE, a source reveals Kobe had “only” flown in helicopters with pilot Ara Zobayan, who was among the deceased. “He and Vanessa had a deal that they would never fly on a helicopter together,” the insider told the outlet of the alleged pact. This video of aviation experts discusses what may have happened to Kobe’s chopper.

Here’s what Kobe said during a 2018 interview:

“Traffic started getting really bad. I had to figure out a way where I could still train and still focus on the craft but still not compromise family time. That’s when I looked into helicopters — to be able to get down and back in 15 minutes.”

Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the crash. On the day of the crash, police departments had grounded their choppers due to dense fog.
