Tim Allen Takes on Ladies of ‘The View’ – Tears into Political Correctness

By Molly T | December 1, 2019

Actor Tim Allen joined ‘The View’ on ABC and wasn’t shy about vocalizing his opinions on political correctness.

Allen, the star of the sitcom ‘Last Man Standing,’ said that political correctness is having an ‘alarming’ effect on comedy. Surprisingly, Joy Behar–typically a staunch liberal–agreed with Allen. She said, ‘It’s a little bit different now. I mean, there’s a PC culture that makes it really hard. I think my act, if I ever brought that old act back, I’d be driven out of town.’

Allen, who just finished his own 44-city comedy tour, said he has had to change the way he does standup in order to avoid offending people.

He said, ‘What I’ve got to do sometimes is explain — which I hate, in big arenas, and this is a thought police thing and I do not like it — but when I use these words, this is my intent behind those words.’

Allen continued, ‘So as long as you understand my intent, I still get people: ‘Well, just don’t say it,’ and I said, ‘I’m not going to do that.’’

‘It’s an alarming thing for comedians,’ Allen concluded.
