Bloomberg Apologizes For “Stop And Frisk” Policy That Actually Seemed To Work For NYC

By Wayne Dupree | November 19, 2019

This apology by Michael Bloomberg tells you all you want to know about his candidacy. At lease Pres. Trump stands by his decisions, Democrats not so much.

Billionaire Bloomberg is running for the Democratic 2020 presidential nomination, and he figured he would cater to the black community over the weekend by apologizing for a successful policy that hit the streets of New York like a ton of bricks. That policy was called “stop and frisk.”

Under Bloomberg’s mayoral policy, hundreds of thousands of people were stopped and searched by police without warrants. The Black and Latino population were disproportionately targeted, and the vast majority released without arrest.

Bloomberg apologized for his decision to push that policy.

“In recent months as I’ve thought about my future, I’ve been thinking more about my past, and coming to terms where I came up short,” Bloomberg said at the predominantly black Christian Cultural Center in Brooklyn on Sunday morning, his first public appearance since teasing a potential presidential run. “Over time, I’ve come to understand something that I long struggled to admit to myself: I got something important wrong. I got something important really wrong.”

Bloomberg, who was mayor between 2002 and 2013, said “far too many innocent people were being stopped” under the policy, and the “overwhelming majority of them were black and Latino.”

“I didn’t understand that, back then — the full impacts that stops were having on the black and Latino communities. I was totally focused on saving lives. But as we know, good intentions aren’t good enough,” he said. [CBS News]

The trouble is, the policy had the desired results in that there was a decrease in killings. It dramatically cut the crime rate, including the murder rate. Ending that policy directly led to the murder rate springing back up. I thought he was a viable moderate candidate until he apologized. I guess his game ended before it started.

This concept is viewed as not acceptable due to the perceived socially unacceptable aspects promoted by some. The numbers don’t matter as do those that would have died as a result of not having the policy at the time.

Why is it the democrats seem to be finding ways to coddle criminals. Look at them, the new DA in San Francisco, the entire state of California, all democrats urging illegals to invade our country, and don’t forget the democrats Sanctuary Cities all across the country. Yet the left is always calling for gun control. It seems they have it backward.

After the 2008 Great Recession, when millions of people were losing their jobs every month and millions more lost their retirements, life’s savings, and houses, the Occupy Wall Street Movement was born. It aimed to hold Wall Street accountable for the damage they had done to Main Street America.

Not a SINGLE Wall Street Banker went to jail for the crash, for ruining the lives of millions of Americans. Bloomberg used massive, fascist state techniques to shut down the Occupy Wall Street movement, and his media outlets relentlessly attacked the movement to taint its image.

That’s all you need to know about Bloomberg. Vote for him at your peril.
